Ensuring care for those who matter most.
Trust Matters can make a difference in the lives of people who…
Rely on family for personal services such as driving and housekeeping.
Maintain their independence using their own personal assets.
Appreciate help from family, and want to pay them for their time.
Worry about managing bill payments to multiple caregivers.
Want to ensure that their parents’ paid caregivers meet their obligations.
What Is Trust Matters?
Trust Matters is a service that helps set up Personal Service Contracts between you and your caregivers for certain personal care and financial management needs. Your Matters of Life™ provider will discuss what your specific care needs are, and then help you coordinate family, friends and even professionals to assist you. Once caregivers are determined, a Personal Service Contract is made between you and the caregiver. These contracts outline the tasks to be completed by the caregiver and the rate at which they will be paid. The contracted amount for services is trusted in your name in an interest-bearing account, and Trust Matters administrators pay caregivers on a payment schedule you determine. Transaction reports, detailing all deposits, disbursements, fees accrued and interest earned, are sent to you on a monthly basis. With the Trust Matters service, you can feel comfortable knowing your needs are being met by your caregivers and that payment for their service is being handled. Trusting your money with Trust Matters also helps reduce the tax burden associated with large, lump-sum, advance payments to caregivers.
- Discuss with you the day-to-day tasks that require assistance, such as housekeeping, laundry, lawn care, meal preparation, bill paying, personal grooming and private transportation.
- Help you determine who your caregivers are including family, friends, neighbors, home health aides and geriatric care managers.
- Help you find caregivers to assist you with tasks and care.
- Design a contract that will set the rate the caregiver will be paid for a service (for example $200 per month, $20 per hour or $500 per task) and identify how often the service is expected to be performed.
- Create an interest-bearing, FDIC–insured trust in your name. All deposits begin earning interest on the day of deposit, and are 100 percent refundable to the depositor upon request.
- Process payments for the care recipient, provide regular statements and handle all documentation.
